BASIC FIRE OFFICER PILOT PROGRAM- BUXTON – SEPTEMBER 9 – DECEMBER 12, 2015 The Maine Fire Service Institute has developed this new training program to address the need to better prepare firefighters to command and manage today’s fire service. The goal is to give new and prospective officers the skills necessary to effectively manage and lead their companies and departments in the challenges of the rapidly changing fire service. Topics include assuming the role of company officer, introduction to leadership and management, fire service organization, legal issues facing the fire service, communications, health and safety, incident management, emergency response, on scene management and communications, and strategy and tactics for single company operations. As a pilot program, your comments and suggestions will be welcome. Your Input will help us build on our successes and make needed changes when appropriate. A registration fee of $75.00 includes the cost of the student textbook (Jones & Bartlett Fire Officer I & II). All Classes held at the Buxton FD Groveville Station, 31 Turkey Lane, Buxton.
